Hello, beautiful people of the world! I am throwing away all of my internal debates and moving from inaction to action by writing THIS very blog! There is a LOT of stuff here, ranging from music to theory (of all kinds) to literature to philosophy and logic to legit medicine. I am a “woman” (I kind of dislike that term … more on that later!) who has suffered from chronic illness her entire life – my first “brush with death” was at the age of 2 months when I developed my first systemic strep infection (several more would follow). I was formally diagnosed in 2003 with Behcet’s and through my own research in conjunction with the health of a nurse at my university’s Health Services, I was able to obtain a formal diagnosis of Common Variable Immune Deficiency in my early 20’s – around the same time I became VERY ill with Behcet’s – a period of time from which I am just now starting to bounce back.

I have a convoluted story and one that is unquestionably difficult to tell, but I hope you will put up with my bombastic loquaciousness and listen – I have learned a lot and I know a lot of YOU with chronic illness have learned a lot and I hope that we can start to have more of an open and honest discourse about severe chronic illness and how it devastates lives and how WE DO NOT need to endure the ADDED struggles this and other societies force us to somehow get through on top of it all. I want to change the “system.” It NEEDS to be changed. No one who cannot work because he or she is so physically or mentally ill (or ill to that extent in ANY regard!) should be on the streets waiting 5-6 years for housing because of a “wait list.” No one should be going bankrupt in his or her 20s and 30s (or at any time) because he or she can’t afford his or her medications; furthermore, NO ONE should be going to the streets for drugs because they’re cheaper than prescriptions (and to be honest, most people who have SEVERE and PROLONGED PAIN in the USA do!). It is a system that ultimately serves no one and harms millions when those millions could be very much changing the world.

I hope you will listen to my ramblies and help me in all of this! And as always, I wish you a happy and healthy day wherever you are in the world! MY HEART IS ALWAYS WITH YOU!!!!

❤ Always, Beth
